A big part of it, which I completely left out, is stress. Enormous stress. I'm practically the sole income-provider of my family, and work as a commission-only mortgage broker in what has been a terrible real estate environment. It's hard to let go, have fun, and be creative when you picture your daughters not having any food on the table in front of them.
But yeah, the market is picking back up, and not coincidentally, so is my desire to write.
I've been in that zone where I couldn't write and it was awful. I'm glad to hear you got your groove back!

That happened to me once. I switched hosts and lost 6 months worth of content. It felt like the end of the world.
I had a popular blog on MySpace (YES MYSPACE) and I can't tell you how many times I've almost lost all of that content. I would be heartbroken.
For now, the only essays I've ever lost were the ones I stupidly wrote in "Notes" on Facebook.
